The Old Quadrangle University of Manchester
To mark the University of Manchester bicentenary celebrations the newly redeveloped ‘Old Quad’ opened to the public on Friday 21st June 2024. Iteriad were appointed in June 2023 alongside Wilson Mason Architects to redesign the old courtyard transforming it into a beautiful public garden space. Construction works started on site in January 2024 and the space is now complete and ready to be enjoyed by all.
The Old Quadrangle at the University of Manchester is one of the most important, prestigious and historic public spaces in the city and has the potential to become an internationally recognised space. It sits within a collection of beautiful heritage buildings including the Beyer Building, Whitworth Hall, Manchester Museum, John Owens and Christie building. Constructed between 1838 and 1909, these buildings were the foundation of the modern University of Manchester campus.
