Working with Spirit of Place is about careful management of change. It is about revealing and sharing the significance of places and ensuring that their special qualities are protected, enhanced, enjoyed and understood by present and future generations.

 

Design with Spirit of Place is a process of attempting to capture the essence of a location creatively. To create special places, to which people are uniquely attracted and that have a long and honourable tradition, which is embodied in the term ‘The Spirit of Place’.

 

Understanding Spirit of Place within the design process can help to order and translate an experience. The careful design of the architecture and landscape providing the bridge into a deeper understanding or feeling, at its simplest ‘the sheer thinginess of it all’.
